I am a proud member of the Weight Loss surgery Community! On April 24, 2009 I had gastric bypass. I started out at the weight of 326 pounds and my lowest weight was 186 pounds. Yes due to stress eating and yummy (sarcastic voice) hospital foods, I regained 48 pounds which I now have re lost 10 of lose going back to my basics.
But I have have been honored to have such a wonderful and caring group of people to support me. A huge support comes from WLSFA a non profit organization that helps provide grants for those who are in desperate need for financial help for this surgery. As like anything else there is a process and they are constantly having fundraisers to help raise money and awareness.
So I am blogging about the newest fundraiser with hopes some of my new readers will be interested. It is a book, It is a book of our stories.
Thriving – Real life stories of recovery from obesity
With compassion, humor, experience and enthusiasm, Dr. Connie Stapleton
takes the reader on the journey from obesity to weight loss surgery
(WLS) and its “after life.”
The first book of its kind, “Thriving!” combines weight loss
information with moving stories of real-life WLS patients who share
their life-long struggles and triumphs. It is possible to overcome
childhood traumas and other factors that contribute to obesity and
reclaim both health and happiness—and keep the weight off.
“Thriving!” makes it clear that weight loss is about more than eating
right, exercising and surgery. It will guide you in your quest to live
fully, as the person you were meant to be. Find out how you can do so
much more, and thrive, not merely survive.
The book can be purchases straight from the WLSFA website:
The WLSFA direct book sales raise the most funds for foundation!
